At 6:43pm this evening Wed 2/26/20, Mohegan FD (volunteer and career) were dispatched to a reported motor vehicle fire on the Taconic State Parkway southbound south of Old Yorktown Rd (Rt 132). While units were enroute, Westchester County Dept of Emergency Services 60 Control advised they were receiving multiple calls for this fire. Upon arrival, units found a heavily involved vehicle fire on the shoulder at mile marker 18.5 and firefighters quickly stretched an 1 3/4” hoseline from Engine 255 to extinguish the fire. The fire was quickly knocked down, with extensive overhaul. The Taconic State Parkway was temporarily shut down during the extinguishment. Units remained on scene assisting with traffic control and scene lighting until approximately 8pm, when the vehicle was removed by a tow truck. Also assisting on scene were the New York State Police and a New York State Department of Transportation Help Truck. Mohegan FD units on scene were Car 2261, 2262, 2266, 2269, Engine 254, Engine 255, Rescue 32, Utility 50, and Utility 80.
