Fire Prevention Lessons at St Columbanus

On Wednesday morning 10/9/19, our members visited the St Columbanus Catholic Elementary School on Oregon Rd in Cortlandt. With many public events and numerous schools in our district, we have been making many visits this month. On this day, our members taught valuable fire safety lessons with the help of Freddie the Fire Truck and Sparky the Fire Dog. Once the classroom lessons were complete, our members taught additional safety lessons inside our smoke trailer. From teaching about smoke detectors, kitchen hazards, to showing smoke (theatrical smoke), feeling a warm door, and finally escaping the fire/smoke, the kids learned many leasons. Engine 256 was also on hand to show our equipment that we use. Photos are courtesy of St. Columbanus School.
