Fire Prevention Attends Mahopac FD Open House

On Sunday 10/29/17, Mohegan FD attended the annual Mahopac FD Open House located at Mahopac FD Headquarters on Rt. 6 on Mahopac (Putnam County). Utility 69 with the Fire Prevention Trailer attended this event, which allowed children to learn about household hazards and escaping a fire by feeling a hot door and finding a second way out in a "smoke" filled room. Mohegan FD also brought our fire extinguisher prop, which allowed kids and adults to learn how to properly use a water fire extinguisher to put out a fire. This fire extinguisher prop is used for fire prevention, but also as a training tool for our members to continuously train and practice to better their skills. Numerous other local agencies attended, including Mahopac Falls FD, American Red Cross, Putnam County Sheriffs, New York State Police, and Carmel PD. Although the weather was rainy, it was a great time by all who attended.
