On the evening of Wed 11/9/16, Mohegan Firefighters trained at LMFD Station #3 (Furnace Woods Station) on our yearly Radiological Training/Review. This training was taught by John Lembke, WCDES Battalion 17/Fire intelligence Liaison Officer. This training reviewed the 10 mile evacuation zone around Entergy's Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant in Buchanan. Topics also included were the Indian Point emergency notifications through the emergency sirens, and news/media emergency alert system. Members also reviewed our radiological equipment, radiation monitoring, and emergency workers responses to the nuclear power plant. Other topics covered included sheltering in place, and the general public and school reception centers in case of an evacuation. Members also reviewed the Potassium Iodide (KI) pills that would be distributed to emergency workers if the need arises.
