On Thurs. 8/12/10 at 5:50pm, in hot and humid weather, Mohegan FD was requested to respond with its FAS-Team to a working structure fire on Walnut Rd in the Lake Peekskill section of Putnam Valley. Putnam Valley FD arrived on scene to find a heavily involved fire on the second floor and requested Mohegan's FAS-Team, Continental Village FD, and Mahopac Falls FD to respond mutual aid to the scene. Putnam Valley FD made a very aggressive interior attack and knocked down the fire in a short period of time. Mohegan's FAS-Team arrived on scene and did a quick size-up and accountability of the firefighters on the scene. Mohegan's FAS-Team set up a 35 foot ground ladder to a second floor window in the front, as an egress point for the interior crews. Mohegan stoodby and continued size-up and accountability until released at approximately 7:30pm. Also assisting on the scene were Putnam Valley VAC, Putnam County Sheriffs, New York State Police, Putnam County Fire Coordinators, and New York State Electric and Gas (NYSEG). Kent FD stoodby and covered Putnam Valley FD. Picture courtesy of PutnamValleyFire.com.
