On Saturday July 23rd, Mohegan volunteer and career firefighters continued their on-going training with a class in elevator rescue. After several hours of classroom instruction on elevator and escalator operations, mechanics, and rescue techniques, the class then proceeded to the Jefferson Valley Mall for some hands-on training. The electrical and mechanical aspects of the escalator were inspected by the class after which a discussion of the mall's elevator took place. A practical inspection and hands-on
training of the elevator will be scheduled for a later date. This highly informative class on the tools and techniques for emergency elevator rescue provides our firefighters with the necessary information to be able to effectively respond and effect an elevator rescue.
