At 9:30pm on Sat. night 6/28, Mohegan FAS-Team members and additional Mohegan Firefighters responded to 83 Secor Road in Mahopac Falls (Putnam County) for a working structure fire. Utilizing Engine 258 for the response, firefighters assisted Mahopac Falls by taking up the FAS-Team assignment on arrival. The FAS-Team set up ladders, secured the scene to help prevent injury, and also stoodby with members in the front and the rear, while Mahopac Falls and Mahopac Firefighters battled the blaze. Due to Mahopac Falls FD EMS transporting a victim to the hospital from the incident, Mohegan VAC 69B3 and Putnam Valley VAC 34-7-1 also responded to provide any medical assistance. As the hot humid weather took it's toll on the firefighters working the incident, VAC members from both agencies stoodby, along with a Putnam County/Empire State EMS medic, with relief cooling stations. Drinking water was also distributed by the EMS personnel. As the photos show, Mahopac Falls, with assistance from the Mahopac FD, made an aggressive stop to this quickly spreading blaze. All Mohegan units cleared the scene within two hours.
