On 10/14/07 at 4:41am, Mohegan firefighters were alerted to the Shrub Oak Plaza at 1410 E. Main St for an activated commercial fire alarm. Upon arrival of units, heavy smoke was found inside the JV Hot Bagels Store. With this, members stretched a 2 1/2" hoseline from Ladder 35 and forced entry into the building. Members began a search and located the seat of the fire inside the bagel oven in the kitchen area. A 1 3/4" hose line was also stretched precautionary from Engine 253 through the rear door. Members extinguished the bulk of the fire utilizing 2 water fire extinguishers and had to extract the reminants of the burning bagels and material by hand using shovels to further extinguish the fire. Con Edison Gas and Electric responded, as did the Yorktown Fire Marshal. Units went back into service at approxinamtely 6:30am.

Units: 2261, 2263, 2264, 2265, 2266, 2267, 22610. Ladder 35, Engine 253, Utility 40
