On Sun. 10/14/07, the Mohegan Volunteer Firefighters held an open house from 11am-4pm in our Headquarters at 1975 E. Main St (Rt. 6) near Lexington Ave. in Mohegan Lake. This event ran in conjunction with National Fire Prevention Week from Oct. 7- Oct. 14. Events for the day included tours of the firehouse, fire engine, ladder truck and "Jaws of Life" demonstrations. There were also ambulance tours and demonstrations by the MVFA-VAC. Our antique fire trucks were on display to show our history, along with a display from our Fire-Police unit. Literature on fire prevention and injury prevention was also available. Special treats for the kids included appearances from Sparky the Fire Dog, Freddie the Fire Truck, and Andy the Ambulance. Free souvenirs, along with free hot dogs and drinks were also available to everyone that attended. Children saw all the equipment on the different trucks and even have a chance to spray water from a real fire hose! Children and adults also got a chance to learn fire prevention in our fire prevention trailer. Everyone who attended enjoyed the day with your local firefighters and ambulance corps. members. In the future, please check our Fire Prevention Link for times and dates our Fire Prevention team schedules.
