On Sat. 8/11/07 at 4:03pm, Ladder 35, Engine 253, 2263, and 2265 responded to an inside electrical malfunction on Leisure Way, in the Villa on the Lakes Condo Complex in Mohegan Lake. Members investigated the situation and found an overheated electrical outlet. Members isolated the problem and as members were in the process of going back into service, they were approached by numerous other homeowners who advised them of similiar circumstances in their units. At 4:26pm, 2263 requested an additional engine and manpower, which brought 2262 and Engine 255 on top of Yorkown PD, and Con Edison Electric to the scene to investigate further. Members evacuated a total of 4 buildings in the complex, which consisted of many units, as they were checked for electrical malfunctions. Members found numerous circuit breakers tripped, appliances overheated and burned out, plus slight burning odors inside. Members also found an underground main electric feed transformer malfunctioning. Forcible entry had to made to a few condos as well. 69B3 stoodby for rehab purposes. In the middle of all this, Ladder 10 responded to an activated commercial fire alarm in the Shrub oak section and was backed up with Engine 253 and 2264 from this incident. Peekskill FD was then requested to relocate 1 Engine to Mohegan Headquarters to cover any additional alarms. Con Edison Electric had to cut power to the entire condo complex to start to fix the problem. Units cleared at approximately 7:00pm and the scene was turned over to Con Edison Electric.
