On Saturday morning 10/12/24, Mohegan FD visited the John C Hart Memorial Library in Shrub Oak for Fire Safety Day. The first part of the morning was spent inside the community room where both the children and adults learned fire and safety tips just as we teach in the schools. We also emphasized to the adults about chimney fire safety and working smoke alarms. While inside there was also w visit from Sparky the Fire Dog and Freddie the Fire Truck. The children also were shown how a firefighter gets dressed into full gear. Once outside, everyone was able to see all the equipment carried on Engine 255. Our smoke safety traiker was also on site, and children and adults were able to learn about kitchen safety, general fire safety around the household, and also escaping a bedroom filing with theatrical smoke with a warm bedroom door. From 10am-12pm, approximately 200 children and adults were able to learn about our dept. It was a great autumn mirni g with gorgeous weather. We thank the Hart Library for this special event! Mohegan EMS 69B2 was also on hand for this event.
