At approximately 7:25pm this evening Wed 2/5/20, Mohegan FD (volunteer and career) was requested to assist Suburban Propane at the Shrub Oak Shopping Center on East Main St for an overfilled and overpressurized large above ground propane tank. Upon arrival, Mohegan FD stoodby while Suburban Propane set up a controlled burn to burn off the excess propane gas in a safe manner. Firefighters stretched a precautionary 1 3/4” hoseline and stoodby while the burn was complete. Once the controlled burn off was complete, Mohegan FD cleared their scene by 8:20pm. Units on scene were Car 2261, 2262, 2264, 2266, 2269, Engine 252, Utility 18, and Utility 80. Photos are courtesy of 2266. As units were clearing this scene, Mohegan FD responded to Mill Pond Rd for a residential fire alarm activated due to burnt food.
