Today Sunday 11/17/19, Mohegan FD attended a multiple department drill with Mahopac Falls Vol. Fire Department and Putnam Valley Volunteer Fire Department at the Putnam County Bureau of Emergency Services Fire Training Center. Today’s drill included Live Burns, Engine Company Operations, Truck Company Operations, and FAS-Team Operations. Members from each department combined and operated together in joint crews with assignments including fire attack, back up hoselines, search and rescue, roof operations, ground and aerial ladder operations, and FAST operations. Each Chief Officer from the departments acted as Incident Commander for a total of 8 evolutions. The evolutions were 4 evolutions of a 2nd floor fire and 4 evolutions of a simulated basement fire, where crews entered from the 2nd floor and ascended down to the first floor to extinguish the fire. The last scenerio was a simulated Mayday where FAS-Team members from Putnam Valley FD and Mohegan FD worked together to remove the “down” firefighter. Mohegan FD units are the drill were Car 2261, 2262, 2263, 226-40, 2264, 2265, 2266, 2267, Ladder 35, and Utility 80. Mahopac Falls FD units were Chief 19-1-2, Engine 19-2-1, Engine Tanker 19-4-2, Engine Tanker 19-4-3, and Ambulance 19-7-2. Putnam Valley FD units were Rescue 24-6-1. This was a great drill that enhanced our inter-agency operations, but also inter-county operations, particularly with radio communications and radio interoperability with working with both county’s fireground channel radio systems.
