Today Saturday 10/5/19, Mohegan FD attended 2 fire prevention details. The first detail was held at The Home Depot in the Cortlandt Town Center on Rt 6 from 9am-12pm. This detail was in conjunction with The Home Depot’s Safety Day. Our members were on hand with Engine 252, Utility 69 with Fire Prevention Trailer, Rescue 32, and our 1976 Ward LaFrance Antique. At our booth, members handed out fire prevention literature, had “Freddie the Fire Truck” talking to the children, and members displayed our equipment and answered any questions. From 12pm-4pm, our members then attended the Jefferson Valley Mall’s Community Day. Our members were on hand with Utility 69 with our Smoke Trailer, Engine 255, and Rescue 32. We allowed children to go through the smoke trailer, which simulates how to escape a fire using theatrical smoke. We also had a display table with literature, and “Freddie the Fire Truck” was on hand both inside and outside the mall with Sparky the Dalmatian entertaining the shoppers. Also on hand at this community day were Mohegan Volunteer Fire Association Volunteer Ambulance Corps with 6905 and Injury Prevention Trailer. Mohegan EMS has “Andy the Ambulance” out entertaining the kids. Our friends over at Yorktown Police Department also attended this event. These photos are courtesy of FF Lourenco and FF Cirillo.
