At approximately 10pm on Thursday 10/3/19, Mohegan FD’s FAS-Team was dispatched to respond mutual aid to the City of Peekskill FD for a confirmed structure fire on Oakridge Pkwy in the City of Peekskill. Mohegan FD responded with a total of 11 FAS-Team members and once on scene found Peekskill Firefighters fighting very heavy fire conditions on the 2nd floor and through the roof. Mohegan Firefighters set up into 2 teams, with one team staged in the front of the residence and the second team staged in the rear. Mohegan FD’s FAS-Team members also set up ground ladders for potential egress if necessary. Shortly after arrival, Engine 256 was redirected to set up and stage a few blocks away at Constant Ave and N. James St for a potential water relay up to the scene due to water issues. Thankfully the water relay was not needed due to a quick knockdown of the fire. Mohegan FD stoodby on scene and was released by 12:30am. Units on scene were Car 2262, 226-40, 2264, 2265, 2266, Engine 256, and Utility 80. Also assisting Peekskill FD were Buchanan FD, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Montrose FD, Peekskill Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Cortlandt Regional Paramedics, and Westchester County Dept of Emergency Services Battalion 10, Cause and Origin Team Zone 4. The Montrose FD and Continental Village FD stoodby and covered the City of Peekskill. Photos are courtesy of Kempter’s Fire Wire and FF LaRocco.
