Busy Morning for Mohegan

On Tues 4/30/19 at approximately 10:05am, Mohegan FD responded to a vehicle fire on the Bear Mountain Parkway in the area of the exits for East Main St (Rt 6). Upon arrival, units found a heavily involved vehicle fire blocking all eastbound lanes. One 1 3/4” hoseline was stretched from Engine 252 was quickly stretched and the fire was eventually knocked down. Due to no hydrants in the area on the highway, a third engine was added to the assignment. Mohegan FD DC 40, 22610, Engine 252, Engine 254, Engine 256, and Rescue 32 all operatrd on scene in the eastbound lanes of the Bear Mountain Pkwy. During this incident, Mohegan FD Car 2268, 22610 (released from vehicle fire), Engine 256 (released from vehicle fire), Ladder 10, and Ladder 35 responded and operated at a confirmed haze of smoke inside a storefront in a strip mall on Hill Blvd in Jefferson Valley. The smoke was caused by a malfunctioning HVAC unit and no fire was found. Units also then responded to a commercial fire alarm at the Staples Plaza in Yorktown at 11:05am that was set off from contractors.
