On Monday 6/18/18 at approximately 7:30pm, a quick strong thunderstorm occurred in our district, which caused numerous incidents within minutes. The calls ranged from tree/wires down, trees down on residences, and a transformer explosion/fire from a direct lightning strike. Con Edison Electric, Yorktown Police Department, New York State Police, also assisted units at the scenes. The American Red Cross was also requested to assist with emergency shelter for a resident in Jefferson Village due to the building being inhabitable from a tee that fell on it causing significant structural damage. The Rt 6 Transformer Fire caused Con Edison to perform a full area electrical grid shutdown so the fire could be extinguished. Mohegan FD worked the numerous scenes and all units cleared all the scenes by 10:30pm. Mohegan FD units operating at the incidents were Car 2261, 2262, 2263, 2264, 2265, 2267, Engine 252, Engine 255, Engine 256, Engine 258, Ladder 35, Rescue 32, and Utility 80.
