On Wednesday 1/18/17 at 4:07pm, Mohegan FD was dispatched to Locust Ave in the area of DiRubbo Dr for a reported school bus fire. Upon arrival, members found an active fire in the rear engine compartment of a school bus. The school bus, which was occupied, was empty and there were no injuries to any of the students. Members utilized a dry chemical extinguisher to knock the fire down, while other members stretched an 1 3/4" hoseline from Engine 252. Members also used speedy dry to absorb leaking fluids onto the roadway. The Town of Cortlandt Highway Dept was requested to the scene with sand, due to the roadway being slick from the fluid spill. During this incident, Mohegan FD operated at a motor vehicle accident with injuries on Rt. 6 and a water main break on Oregon Rd/School St. All units cleared this scene by 5:30pm. The students were transported from the scene by another school bus and the bus involved was towed from the scene.
