On Wed. 8/3/16 at approximately 2:30pm, while a few members were at our Fire Headquarters on Rt. 6 finishing up paperwork from a previous FAS-Team call to Putnam Valley FD, our members heard a loud car accident occur in close proximity to the firehouse. Members immediately jumped into action to begin to locate it and investigate if there were any injuries. Within seconds, our members found a very serious 4 car accident just feet from our firehouse. Car 2264 (Capt Gravius) immediately confirmed a pin on the driver of one vehicle and advised 60 Control (Westchester County DES) that there were 4 injuries. Firefighters quickly put 2 Hurst tools into operation from Engine 252 and Engine 257, while other members began to treat the injured. The pinned driver was extricated within 15 minutes and was transported by 69B1 with Yorktown Paramedic onboard to the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla. 69B2 transported the operator of the second vehicle with the other Yorktown Paramedic to Westchester Medical Center. 69B3 transported 2 other injuries with a Cortlandt Paramedic to Hudson Valley Hospital Center. Putnam Valley VAC 34-7-3 relocated to Mohegan FD Headquarters to cover any additional EMS calls in our district. Mohegan FD's Fire-Police with Utility 50 assisted Yorktown Police with a full road closure on Rt. 6 between Lexington Ave and Mohegan Ave u ntil the scene was cleared. Members also secured 2 parked vehicles that were involved and assisted in securing a private light pole that was damaged and leaning.
