At 2:42pm on Thurs 6/23/16, Mohegan Fire and EMS units were dispatched to the Putnam County Savings Bank on Lee Rd in Jefferson Valley for a motor vehicle accident reported Car vs Building. Upon arrival of units, no injuries were found, but the entrance lobby to the bank did suffer significant structural damage, due to the vehicle's driver reversing into the building. This was caused by the driver accidentally accelerating on the gas pedal instead of the brake pedal. Mohegan FD DC35, DC41, Engine 252, and Engine 257 operated on scene along with the Yorktown Police Department, and awaited the Town of Yorktown Building Dept. to check the structural integrity of the building. All Mohegan Fire units cleared by 3:30pm and the scene was turned over to the Yorktown Building Dept. Pictures are courtesy of FF Sam Stretz.
