Working Fire Brings 1st Alarm Assignment

On Friday afternoon 10/16/2015 at 2:29pm, Mohegan Fire units were dispatched to a residence on Stony St for reported smoke in the structure, with an alarm sounding. Upon arrival of units, smoke was found in the residence and fire was located in the 2nd floor front bedroom. The 10-75 was struck by Car 2264, bringing the 1st alarm mutual aid assignment to the scene. Firefighters quickly stretched one 1 3/4" hoseline was Ladder 10 into the residence, while Engine 252 secured a water source from a fire hydrant located in front of the residence. Ladder 10 also took the truck company role and raised its 75 foot aerial to the roof. Under the command of Car 2264, the fire was quicky brought under control within 10 minutes. Extensive overhaul was performed in the 2nd floor bedroom. The hallway and attic were also checked for further extension. No extension was found in the attic. Firefighters also ventilated the residence utilizing exhaust fans. Assisting Mohegan FD on scene were Mohegan EMS, Yorktown FD, Mahopac Falls FD, Somers FD, Yorktown Police, Yorktown Fire Marshal and Westchester County Dept of Emergency Services. Peekskill FD and Mahopac FD relocated and stoodby at Mohegan FD Station 1. All the mutual aid cleared the scene by approximately 4pm, and all Mohegan Fire units cleared the scene by 5pm.
