On Tuesday 10/28/14 at 1150am, Mohegan FD was dispatched to 2 separate fire calls simultaneous. The first call was a motor vehicle accident with injuries at the intersection of Route 202 and Croton Avenue in Cortlandt. The second call was an outdoor odor of gas on Route 6 in the area of Mohegan Avenue in Mohegan Lake. DC35, Engine 253, and Ladder 35 handled the gas odor on Rt. 6, while DC42, 2265, Engine 252, Engine 258, 69B1, 35Medic1, and NY State Police handled the accident on Rt. 202. At the Rt. 202 accident, units arrived and found a fully loaded 8,000 gallon gasoline tanker that had struck a SUV with 2 injuries. No extrication was needed and one patient was transported by 69B1 to Hudson Valley Hospital and 35Medic1 handled an RMA on scene. Thankfully no fluids were leaking from either vehicle. Units remained on scene performing traffic control, until the vehicles were removed from the roadway. croton Ave was completely blocked due to the accident and traffic was redirected along Rt. 202. All units cleared the accident within one hour of dispatch. Units cleared the outside odor if gas on Rt. 6 after investigation and found the call to be unfounded. Mohegan's Bravest responded to numerous EMS calls throughout the day and also handled 2 additional fire calls which were a lift assist and a commercial fire alarm activation.
