On Saturday August 16th, Mohegan FD responded to 2 serious motorcycle accidents. The first one occurred 10:20am on the Bear Mountain Parkway by Brookside Avenue in Cortlandt between a motorcycle and a SUV. The biker and a passenger from the motorcycle were transported to Westchester Medical Center ALS and the driver of the SUV was transported to Hudson Valley Hospital Center BLS. During the incident multiple neighboring EMS agencies were placed on standby to support the LMFD for additional EMS calls. The roadway was closed for several hours by firefighters and fire police to support the New York State Police while conducting an accident investigation. Less than an hour after clearing the Bear Mountain Pkwy, Mohegan FD was called to respond to a second motorcycle accident on the Taconic State Parkway southbound, just south of Rt.132. That crash at 3:30 PM caused one biker to be transported to Westchester Medical Center ALS by Yorktown VAC. In addition to these 2 very serious motorcycle accidents, Mohegan FD responded to 3 automatic alarms, 2 additional automobile accidents, and an inside odor of smoke investigation on Saturday, making for quite a busy day.
