Multiple Alarms During Severe Thunderstorm

On Thurs. 7/3/14, just before 7pm, the area began to feel the affects of powerful severe thunderstorms that struck the area for approx. 2 hours. Extremely heavy rain, high winds, large hail, and tremendous lightning and thunder slammed the entire region. With this, our fire district began receiving alarms. These alarms ranged from activated alarms, trees/wires down and burning, and water conditions. Between 7 PM and 12 midnight, Mohegan Firefighters responded to a total of 8 alarms.

The breakdown is the following:

6:59pm: Residential Fire Alarm on Croton Ave (set off due to lightning)

7:16pm: Electrical Primary Wires Down and Burning on Old Crompond Rd/Field St

7:33pm: Numerous Trees/Wires Down on Pumphouse Rd/Dogwood Rd

7:59pm: Water Condition on Maple Brook Ct

8:17pm: Water Condition on Cardinal Rd

8:17pm: Water Condition on Forest Ave

8:23pm: Tree Down blocking Oregon Rd near Oak St

10:59pm: Motor Vehicle Accident with Injuries at Rt. 6/Locust Ave
