On Sat. 5/31/14, Mohegan FD/EMS participated in the Town Of Yorktown's Emergency Services Day. The even was held at the Yorktown FD on Commerce St. During the event, Engine 252 was on display to the public and also participated in an extrication demonstration. Mohegan FD's Fire prevention Team was also on hand with our smoke trailer. Children entered our trailer that is set up like a house, and learned about fire safety tips including escaping a house fire, where the bedroom is filling with smoke. Engine 251, our 1941 Mack antique, was also on display for the public to see up close. Mohegan EMS was also on hand assisting with injury prevention and giving the public helpful medical tips. Yorktown FD was on hand with numerous apparatus, including their water rescue/dive team. Other agencies the participated included our police departments. Yorktown Police was on hand with personnel, New York State Police participated with their rollover vehicle simulator, and Westchester County Police Aviation was on hand with one of their helicopters. Various Town of Yorktown equipment was also on hand to display. In all, it was a great day of teaching the public about what we do.
