On Thurs. 7/1/10 at approximately 8:05pm, Mohegan units were dispatched to the Jacobs Hill Senior Complex off Rt. 6 in Cortlandt for an activated commercial fire alarm. Upon arrival of Car 2261, residents reported that there was smoke in the building and a grease fire in the kitchen in one of the apartments. Members immediately investigated and found the fire to be already extinguished, however there was a smoke condition on the first floor with numerous residents complaining of smoke inhalation. Under the command of Car 2261, Mohegan EMS was requested with 2 ambulances, along with Peekskill 39Medic2 to treat the patients. Ladder 10 was also special called to the scene with additional exaust fans. Members ventilated the building, while EMS members treated a total of 7 patients with smoke inhalation. Mohegan EMS was also on standby in Headquarters with a third ambulance in case needed. Once the building was ventilated of all the smoke, Mohegan units cleared at approx. 10pm. All the patients that Mohegan EMS treated refused medical attention and transport to the hospital.
