On Easter Sunday 4/9/23 at approximately 12:30pm, Mohegan FD was dispatched to the area of Pumphouse Rd and Dogwood Rd in Cortlandt for a reported structure fire. Upon arrival, a large area brush fire was located in a wooded mountains area in the neighboring Continental Village FD. Due to this, Continental Village FD was also dispatched. Mohegan FD units began to access the area, while a better access point was found off of Sprout Brook Rd in Continental Village. The area burning was approximately 6 acres and additional mutual aid was requested from Putnam Valley FD, Buchanan FD, Montrose FD, Peekskill FD and Yorktown FD. Peekskill EMS also assisted on scene , along with Westchester County Dept of Emergency Services and Putnam County Bureau of Emergency Services. Mohegan FD cleared the scene by 6pm while Continental Village FD remained on scene. All photos are courtesy of Continental Village FD.
