On Wednesday night 9/1/21 at approximately 10:45pm, Mohegan FD responded to Rt 202 and Pine Grove Ct in Yorktown for multiple occupied vehicles stuck in rising water. This severe flooding was caused extremely heavy rainfall from the remenants of Hurricane Ida. During the height of the storm in torrential rain, Engine 252 with Car 2266/crew of firefighters entered this high moving water and rescued 4 individuals from 3 seperate vehicles that were stuck in high water that was continuing to rise. All those rescued were not injured and transported by Engine 252 back to our Fire Headquarters on Rt 6 for shelter. These individuals were then eventually transported by Mohegan EMS to the John C. Hart Memorial Library for further emergency shelter. During this storm, Mohegan FD responded to numerous water conditions, a carbon monoxide alarm, and a motor vehicle accident. During the overnight, Mohegan FD was requested to establish a crew to respond to assist the Mamaroneck Village FD (other news articles).
