***Annual Candy Cane Run Changes- Drive Up Events*** Due to Covid-19, we are extremely saddened to announce that we cannot safely hold our annual traditional style candy cane runs by driving Santa around the streets of the Lake Mohegan Fire District by fire truck. We looked at all the logistics involved for our firefighters and want to minimize the risk factors to everybody, including Santa, while continuing to social distance in an effort to prevent the spread of Covid-19. Most importantly we want to keep all our residents and children safe! We sat down with Santa Claus and opted for a more safer and different way to spread holiday cheer, while not allowing Covid-19 to completely ruin the holiday season. Normally, the Saturday portion is held in Yorktown and the Sunday portion is held in Cortlandt. This year, to stay on normal track, those residents that live on the Town of Yorktown side of the Lake Mohegan Fire District, on Saturday, December 5, 2020 from 11am-3pm, there will be a Winter Wonderland Car Parade at the Jefferson Valley Mall located at 650 Lee Blvd in Yorktown and the children will be able to see Santa himself at the end from the comfort of being inside of the vehicles. All children will get a candy cane as the cars drive through the parking lot. Holiday car decorations are encouraged by all! Due to this occurring during normal operating mall hours, the mall has asked any residents who are coming to this event please register (NO COST) so there is an approximate count on the number of vehicles. On Sunday December 6, 2020 from 11am-3pm, we will again have a Santa drive-up Candy Cane event for our Town of Cortlandt residents at the Town of Cortlandt’s Muriel H. Morabito Community Center located at 29 Westbrook Dr in Corrlandt. Children will also be handed a candy cane at this event as they sit in the vehicles. We know that Santa usually drives around with us to deliver candy canes to your house, but this year we need to make sure Santa stays healthy and safe for Christmas. We thank you for your continued support you give us here at the Mohegan Volunteer Fire Association and we thank you for helping make this holiday a little more jolly!

For health concerns please note:
-All passengers must remain in vehicles at all times
-No in person photographs with Santa
-No children are to approach Santa
-All involved MUST wear masks and remain socially distanced

We sincerely thank the Jefferson Valley Mall and the Town of Cortlandt for using their space to allow these events!
