On Monday 6/29/20, Mohegan FD (volunteer and career) assisted the Westchester County Police Department with a flag detail on Old Yorktown Rd (Route 132) over the Taconic State Parkway. The flag detail was for the retirement escort for retiring Westchester County Police Captain Paul A. Stasaitis. Capt Stasaitis was the commanding officer of WCPD's Patrol Division. He had more than 43 years law enforcement career and Captain Stasaitis began his career in 1976 as an officer with the Westchester County Parkway Police. In 1979, the Parkway Police and Westchester County Sheriff's Department merged to form the Department of Public Safety, aka the County Police. Captain Stasaitis held many assignments during his career as he ascended through the ranks and earned the respect and loyalty of all who served under his command. With WCPD having a patrol unit in the Town of Cortlandt, he assisted the Mohegan FD for many years. We thank you for your service! Assisting with the flag detail were Car 2261, 2266, 2267, 2269, 22610, Ladder 10, Ladder 35, Rescue 32, Utility 18, and Utility 80. Photos are courtesy of FF G. Stretz.
