This evening Thurs 2/20/20 at approximately 4:45pm, Car 2262 came across a motor vehicle accident with injuries on the Bear Mountain Pkwy Extension in the area of the Taconic State Pkwy just seconds after the incident occurred. Car 2262 immediately requested a response from Mohegan FD (volunteer and career), Mohegan Volunteer Fire Association Volunteer Ambulance Corps, and Empress Emergency Medical Services/Yorktown Paramedics. Due to the impact, the driver side door of one of the vehicles was sheared off and both vehicles stopped approximately 100 yards from each other. Thankfully, no extrication was needed and both drivers self-extricated themselves. Mohegan EMS 69B2 transported one driver to the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla. The other driver refused medical attention on scene. Mohegan FD assisted with the road closure until the vehicles were removed from the scene. Also assisting on scene were Yorktown Police Department and New York State Police. Mohegan FD units on scene were Car 2262, 226-40, 2269, Engine 252, Engine 254, and Rescue 32. All units cleared by 5:45pm.
