On Friday 2/22/19 at approximately 12:15pm, Mohegan FD was dispatched to Fox Hall St in Mohegan Lake for a reported structure fire, with the caller stating there were flames coming from the kitchen window. Upon arrival, units confirmed the 10-75 (working structure fire) and immediately transmitted the 1st alarm assignment. Engine 252 arrived 1st due and members immediately stretched one 1 3/4" hoseline from Engine 252 to begin to extinguish the fire. Ladder 35 arrived and took a position directly in front of the residence, while Engine 255 supplied a 5" supply hose into the scene from a fire hydrant at Fox hall St and Morris Ln. This supply hose fed additional water to Engine 252. On the 1st Alarm assignment were Mohegan EMS, Westchester County Dept of Emergency Services units, Yorktown FD's FAS-Team, Mahopac Falls FD, Peekskill EMS's Rehab Unit, and Con Edison Electric. The fire was quickly knocked down and the fire was held to the kitchen area and cockloft directly above the kitchen. Once the fire was knocked down, other members began to check for further fire extension, began ventilating the smoke, and place a ground ladder to access the roof area. No additional fire extension was found. During the fire, Putnam Valley FD and Montrose FD relocated and covered Mohegan FD Headquarters on Rt. 6 for any additional calls. Putnam Valley FD Car 24-1-1 and Engine 24-2-2, Montrose FD Tower Ladder 8, plus Mohegan FD Ladder 10 and Engine 258 responded and handled a commercial alarm at the Wynwood Oaks Condos on East Main St in Shrub Oak. All Mohegan FD units cleared the fire scene by 2:45pm. Also assisting on the fire scene were Yorktown PD and Yorktown Fire Marshall/Code Enforcement. Photos are courtesy of FF Gus Stretz.
