In 2018, the Lake Mohegan Fire District responded to a total of 3,790 runs. 1,316 of those dispatches were Fire/Rescue related calls and 2,474 being LMFD's First Response to EMS calls in our district. The EMS totals are not the total MVFA-VAC EMS responses in district, but the FD First Response (Fire Apparatus) to EMS calls. We had an large increase of approximately 300 fire/rescue calls and approximately 300 EMS First Response runs last year from 2017. Some of the increase in our fire/rescue call volume occurred in March when we responded to 138 fire/rescue calls during numerous nor' easter storms in a 1 week span plus numerous other severe weather events that occurred throughout the year. Other highlighted calls we handled included an ATV Accident with medevac landing, 5 acre brush fire requiring numerous mutual aid, numerous structure fires, and an increase response volume of our dept’s FAS-Team to assist other agencies. Besides handling the large call volume, our members also spent hundreds of hours in training through in-house dept training/drills, county level training, state level training, and even federal level training. Our members also participated in numerous events including local parades, funeral/memorial details, annual Engine 260 Muster in Milford Ct, HVVFA Convention/Parade in Queensbury NY, fire prevention details, and recruitment campaigns which included the RecruitNY program, and also participating in both Walter Panas HS and Lakeland HS career days to gain perspective members. Other community events also included escorting home the NYS 2nd place Lakeland HS Field Hockey Team and our annual Candy Cane Runs. Below are some of the various scenes (in district and mutual aid), standby responses, and events from throughout the year that we handled.
