The 4th of July turned into a busy day for Mohegan FD. Early in the morning, we marched in the City of Peekskill’s annual Independence Day Parade. This afternoon, Mohegan FD has responded to 6 fire/rescue calls, with most of the calls during some intense thunderstorms. We also responded mutual aid to Putnam Valley Volunteer Fire Department for 2 structure fires, assisted at them at a deck fire, and relocated and stoodby for the late evening structure fire. Here is the breakdown of the calls for the day and evening:

1) 2:51pm: Motor Vehicle Accident on Rt 132/Union Rd in Yorktown. Car 2263, 2267, Engine 252, Engine 255, Rescue 32, and Utility 80 were on the assignment.

2) 3:36pm: Wires Down and Burning from Lightning Strike at Rt 132/Parkway Pl in Yorktown. Car 2263, 2267, Engine 252, Engine 255, and Rescue 32 handled this call. Con Edison Electric and Yorktown Police Department also assisted on scene. (photos below courtesy of FF S. Stretz)

3) 3:47pm: Commercial Fire Alarm at Lakeland Cooper Beech Middle School on Rt 132 in Yorktown. Car 2267, Engine 255, Engine 256, Ladder 35, and Utility 80 took in this assignment. Alarm caused by an electrical power surge from the wires burning on Rt 132/Parkway Pl.

4) 4:41pm: FAS-Team mutual aid to Putnam Valley FD for a Structure Fire caused by a lightning strike on Old Stonehouse Rd in Putnam Valley (Putnam County). Car 2263, 2265, 2267, and Engine 256 with a total of 8 FAST members responded to this call.

5) 5:28pm: Commercial Fire Alarm at Lakeland Cooper Beech Middle School on Rt 132 in Yorktown. Car 2262, 2263, 2265, 2267, Engine 252, Engine 256, Ladder 10, Rescue 32, and Utility 80 responded and found the alarm set off due to electric power restored to the area by Con Edison Electric.

6) 6:30pm (Approx.): Motor Vehicle Accident w/ Injuries on Hill Blvd in Jefferson Valley. Car 2262, 2265, 2267, Engine 252, Engine 255, Mohegan Volunteer Fire Association Volunteer Ambulance Corps and Yorktown PD responded.

7) 9:07pm: FAS-Team Mutual Aid to Putnam Valley FD for structure fire on Park Dr. Car 2263, 2265, 2267, Engine 256 with a total of 5 FAS-Team members responded and assisted until approximately 2am.

8) 9:12pm: Motor Vehicle Accident on Bear Mountain Parkway at Rt. 6: car 2262, Engine 252, Engine 258, and Rescue 32 handled with Mohegan EMS

9) 10:25pm: Mutual Aid to Putnam Valley FD for deck fire on Penbrooke Ct. Car 2261, 2262, Engine 252, and Ladder 35 responded to the mutual aid assist during the Park Dr structure fire.

10) 10:39pm: Relocate to Putman Valley FD: Car 2262 and Engine 252 relocated and covered Putnam Valley FD while units operated at the Park Dr structure fire until 2am.
