Tonight Thursday 7/12/18, 8 Mohegan Firefighters officially graduated their 2018 NYS Firefighter I curriculum at the Westchester County Fire Training Center in Valhalla. Tonight's ceremony was for volunteer firefighters from throughout the region and included a bagpipe escort by the Westchester County Firefighters Emerald Society. Speeches were made by Westchester County Executive George Lattimer, WCDES Chief Dingee, and Westchester County Volunteer Firemen's Association President Robert Outhouse. The NYS Firefighter I training now consists of Basic Exterior Firefighting Operations, Hazardous Material Operations, and Firefighter Survival training. This training is now over 100 hours of combined training! This training, plus our dept's annual bailout training now qualifies these members as interior firefighters. In attendance included Mohegan FD Chief George Keesler who is also a NYS Firefighter I Instructor, Mohegan FD 2nd Assistant Chief Chris Gravius, 4th Lieutenant Brandes Innes, friends, and family members.
