Today, Wednesday 4/18/18, Mohegan FD and our sister organization Mohegan Volunteer Fire Association Volunteer Ambulance Corps were graciously invited by the Lakeland Central School District to attend Walter Panas High School’s Career Fair and Job Expo from 10am-1pm in the high school’s library. We took this as a great opportunity to reach out to try to recruit young members who are in high school to join (16 years old or older). We were able to hand out literature, applications, show off some of our equipment, and show the students a recruitment video of our department’s probationary firefighter training program, which was made in 2011. The best part of the day was able to interact with students and talk in an informal manner about emergency services and what we do, along with the Yorktown Police Department, who also had a table next to ours. We even had a few of our members who are in the high school stop by and say hello. Today Car 2263, 6914, and 6905 were on had with a total of 5 members. Today we were lucky enough to have Asst Chief Gravius and FF Lassiter attend this Career Day since both members are graduates of Walter Panas HS. Next Wednesday we will be at Lakeland High School’s Career Fair. If anybody is interested in joining, please stop by Fire Headquarters on Rt 6 and pick up and application at any time!
