Small Structural Fire During Snowstorm

On Sat. 2/17/18 at 6:50pm, Mohegan FD was dispatched to Ogden Ave in Cortlandt for reported smoke coming from underneath the dishwasher. Upon arrival, members found light smoke visible from underneath the kitchen cabinets and began to further investigate Members then found electrical wires arcing in the wall/joist area in the garage area below the kitchen. Con Edison Electric was requested, while members began to isolate the electrical power. Once the electric was isolated, members extinguished the burning insulation, and also cut a small portion of the burning wood to extinguish the fire with a water fire extinguisher. Members further checked underneath the vinyl exterior siding for any extension and none was found. Members continued to utilize thermal imaging cameras to further check the house with no heat indicated. Members cleared the scene by 8:30pm. Units operating on scene were Car 2262, 2263, 22610, Engine 252, Engine 258, Ladder 35, and Rescue 32.
