Mutual Aid to Somers 3rd Alarm Fire

On Friday evening 12/29/17, at approximately 5:25pm, Mohegan FD's FAS-team was requested to respond to a structure fire on Mahopac Ave in Somers. Mohegan FD Car 2261, 2263, 22610, and Engine 256/FAS-Team quickly responded on this 10-75 assignment to assist Somers FD. Yorktown FD, Mahopac Falls FD, and Mahopac FD were also requested with their tankers to the scene on the 1st alarm assignment. while Mohegan FD was enroute Somers FD arrived to find a heavily involved structure fire in a large residence. Somers FD immediately transmitted a 2nd alarm. Upon arrival of Mohegan FD, our FAS-Team set up on both sides of the residence, while other Mohegan FD members began to assist Mahopac Falls FD members stretch a 2 1/2" hoseline to the rear and set up our blitz nozzle from Engine 256 onto that hoseline. Members assisted in extinguishment of the fully involved fire for numerous hours. Engine 256 also set up to draft from the portable ponds using our hard suction hose. The 3rd alarm was then struck for this large fire. Mohegan FD assisted on scene for numerous hours in this extremely cold weather until approximately 9:30pm. Also assisting Somers FD on scene above the first alarm assignment were Putnam Valley FD, Continental Village FD, Brewster FD, Kent FD, Croton Falls FD, Katonah FD, Bedford Hills FD, Millwood FD, Goldens Bridge FD, South Salem FD, and Westchester EMS.
