On Saturday 12/10/17 and Saturday 12/16/17, Mohegan FD and Mohegan EMS spent 8 hours each day escorting Santa Claus around our fire district by fire engine. The first Saturday 12/9/17 was rescheduled to Saturday 12/16/17 due to a snowstorm. Our members helped Santa hand out candy canes to all the children and some adults, as we drove around. On top of having 2 routes on the streets each day, we had a third route that went to the various group homes and nursing homes throughout our district. Besides our members enjoying this, our residents and the children definitely enjoyed seeing Santa Claus. On Christmas Eve, we also visited New York Presbyterian-Hudson Valley Hospital with Santa and spread holiday cheer throughout the hospital to raise the spirits of those who were sick/injured. We thank everyone for the fun we had and the treats were great. We would like to wish everyone a Happy and Healthy Holiday Season. Because of such a high call volume during the Candy Cane Runs, some locations were unfortunately missed. Please look out for next year's schedule sometime in November as changes will be made to the routes.
