After months of planning and design, the new Car 2262 and Car 2263 have recently been placed into service as command vehicles. On Friday 3/31/17, Mohegan FD accepted delivery of two 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe command type vehicles from DeNooyer Chevrolet located in Colonie, NY. The vehicles came pre-wired for warning light installation directly from the Chevrolet factory. The vehicles then underwent installation of warning lights and sirens, radios, and graphics. In the first photo, LMFD Fire Commissioners Jim Seymour (L) and Chris Gravius (R) accept delivery from DeNooyer Chevrolet Salesman Bill Asprion (center). The graphic design and installation was then completed by DB Graphics in Poughkeepsie. Once the graphics were completed, the warning lights/sirens, and radios were installed by Hudson Valley Public Safety Lighting/NYCOMCO in Poughkeepsie. These vehicles are designed with dual radio heads in both the front center console and trunk area, so that the vehicle can be designated as a command post vehicle, as well as supporting and carrying the necessary equipment for fire suppression, forcible entry, and traffic control in the trunk. The previous Car 2262 (2009 Ford Expedition) is operating at the temporary Rescue 32 until the new Rescue 32 is delivered within the next few weeks. The previous Car 2263 (2014 Ford Expedition) has been re-designated as the “new” Utility 80 since the previous Utility 80 (2007 Ford Expedition) was donated to the Yorktown Police Dept for a new K9 vehicle.
