Severe Weather Keeps Bravest Busy

On Thurs 7/13/17, Mohegan FD responded to multiple calls during multiple rounds of severe thunderstorms during the afternoon. The list below is fire/rescue calls handled in our district on this day:

1) 2:54pm: Trump Park in Shrub Oak/Inside Odor of Gas. Units investigated and found the odor to be the glue being used in re-carpeting in one of the units. Car 2261, 2263, Engine 252, Engine 256, Ladder 10, and Ladder 35 handled and cleared by 3:15pm.

2) 2:59pm: Tree and Wires Down on Maple Row near Paulding Ln in Crompond. Units found large tree branch down in the roadway with a house service electric line. The electric line was severed from the primary lines and was not energized. The scene turned over to Cortlandt Highway Dept and Con Edison Electric was requested. Car 2261, 2263, 22610, Engine 258, and Utility 80 handled and cleared by 4pm.

3) 3:50pm: Tree Down on House on Paulding Ln in Crompond. Units found a large tree down (occurred previous day) with moderate structural damage to residence. The residence was deemed uninhabitable by Town of Cortlandt Code Enforcement and Building Dept, which was requested to the scene. Members assisted the residents with gathering some personal belongs prior to leaving the residence. Members also secured the inside electric by turning off the breaker panels. Con Edison Electric also responded and cut the electric to the residence. Units operating were 2261, 2263, 2264, 22610, Engine 258, Utility 80, Town of Cortlandt Code Enforcement/Building Dept, and Con Edison Electric. All units cleared by 5:30pm
