At 5:30pm on Sunday 7/2/17, Mohegan FD was dispatched to Buena Vista Ave in Cortlandt for a residential fire alarm. Within 2 minutes of dispatch, the call was upgraded to a reported structure fire, as the homeowner called 911 to report a basement fire. Upon arrival, smoke was showing from the rear basement door with fire visible inside. With this, the 10-75 (working structure fire) was transmitted by 2261 bringing the 1st alarm assignment. Two 1 3/4" hoselines (1 in operation, 1 backup) were quickly stretched from Engine 256 and the fire was quickly knocked down. Engine 252 laid a 5" supply line into the scene from a close by hydrant to supply Engine 256 adequate water. Other crews performed primary and secondary searches of the basement, first and second floors with negative results. Once members have deemed there was no fire extension, ventilation was set up in the basement and first floor to ventilate the moderate smoke condition. Mohegan FD units on scene were Car 2261 (Incident Command), 2263 (Operations), 2264, 2265, 2269, 22610, Engine 252, Engine 256, Ladder 35, Utility 11 (acting Rescue 32), and Utility 80.
