On Saturday afternoon 1/7/17, during a moderate snowstorm, Mohegan FD began the afternoon with an activated commercial fire alarm at the King Buffet restaurant on Rt 6 in Cortlandt at 12:18pm. Car 2263, 2264, 2266, 2267, Engine 252, Engine 257, Ladder 35, and Rescue 32 were on this assignment and found a malfunctioning fire alarm system. At 12:39pm, while units were still operating at King Buffet, Mohegan FD, along with Mohegan Volunteer Fire Association Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Cortlandt Regional Paramedics, and New York State Police were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident rollover on Gallows Hill Rd in Cortlandt. Upon arrival of units, a one vehicle rollover accident was found with 1 injury. 69B1 along with 35Medic1 transported 1 patient to NewYork-Presbyterian/Hudson Valley Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Mohegan FD remained on scene and assisted with the road closure until the vehicle was uprighted and removed. Car 2263, 2264/Utility 80, 2266, 2267, Engine 252, Engine 257, and Rescue 32 were on this scene. All Mohegan Fire units cleared by approximately 1:35pm. The third run was dispatched at 1:41pm with Mohegan FD, Mohegan VAC, Cortlandt Paramedics, New York State Police, and Westchester County Police being dispatched to a motor vehicle accident with extrication with the vehicle in a creek on Maple Ave near Maple Ct in Cortlandt. Upon arrival of units, a one vehicle accident off the roadway was found with the vehicle resting precariously directly above a stream with the occupant unable to exit the vehicle. Members assessed the scene and determined that the driver had minor injuries and members utilized a 14 foot roof ladder off Engine 258 and gained access to the vehicle and patient. Members removed the patient and she was transferred over to EMS care and transported to HVHC with non-life threatening injuries. Car 2263, 2264/Utility 80, 2266, 2267, DC40, Engine 252, Engine 258, and Rescue 32 were on this assignment along with Mohegan EMS 69B3 and 39Medic2 (City of Peekskill Fire Dept/Cortlandt Medic). All Mohegan Fire units cleared by 2:45pm when the vehicle was removed without further incident.
