On Sat 6/11/16, Mohegan FD Car 2264, 2266, 2269, Utility 11, Utility 18, Utility 80, and Ladder 10 trained at a full day training session at the Westchester County Fire Training Center in Valhalla. The training included topics on hoseline stretches, search and rescue, and standpipe operations. Using simulated smoke conditions, members (both career and volunteer) practiced using simulated training props including our 2 mannequins (adult and child), plus also trained using our FAS-Team's RIT Pak. Scenarios included responding to a reported structure fire and arriving to find a bedroom fire with 2 victims trapped on the 2nd floor. The second scenario was responding to a reported car fire in the area and arriving to find a structure fire due to a car fire inside the garage with the neighbors advising of hearing an adult and a child screaming on the 2nd floor with the screams stopping. In both scenarios, crews broke up into a hose team and a search team and coordinated efforts to rescue the "victims" and extinguish the simulated fires simultaneously. The last scenarios of the day were high rise operations, where there was a fire on the 3rd floor of a 6 story high rise, where the standpipe system needed to be charged, and crews opened the standpipe on the 2nd floor and stretched a hoseline up to the 3rd floor and entered the "fire room" and "extinguished the fire". This allowed everyone to have some nozzle practice, along with practice high rise fire/standpipe operations, which is not often utilized in our fire district.
