On Tues. August 4, 2015, Mohegan FD's 2015 Probationary Firefighters completed their final night of training. Tonight, they are taking a 50 question written exam and then performing a multitude of practical evolutions and being graded on their performance. Once this is complete, our "probies" will be classified as exterior firefighters and can respond to calls in the Lake Mohegan Fire District. This 12 week training program was lead by Captain Chris Gravius, with assistance from Asst Chief Don DeChent, Deputy Chief George Keesler, and Lieutenants Ken Dunnings, Eric Hirsch, Danny Kaye, and Pete Goldberg. Over the course of the past 12 weeks, our probationary firefighters trained in topics including, but not limited to, turnout gear, fire behavior/fire extinguishers, SCBA airpacks, SCBA emergency/mayday procedures, search and rescue, mask confidence, water supply/hoseline operations, ground/aerial ladder operations, saws/small engines/ventilation, vehicle extrication, CPR/First Aid certifications, ICS 100 and NIMS 700 certifications, and general knowledge of equipment/tools/apparatus. We would like to thank our senior volunteer firefighters and our career staff for assisting throughout the past 12 weeks during training!
