On Tues. 3/27/12 at 1:14pm, Mohegan Fire units were dispatched to Wenonah Trail in Mohegan Lake for a reported structure fire. While units were enroute, 60 Control advised all units that they were receiving multiple calls for this fire. Upon arrival, members found heavy smoke and fire showing from the residence. Two 1 3/4" hoselines were stretched from Ladder 35 and put into operation. Engine 253 laid a 5" supply hoseline from a nearby hydrant and Engine 252 stoodby in front. Heavy fire was found on the rear side with fire in the basement apartment, first floor, and second floor loft. Members quickly knocked down the fire in the basement and first floor, but members had to open up the wood paneled ceilings inside to access the heavy fire, which was burning through the roof. The fire was placed under control in approximately one hour, and members overhauled and checked for further fire for another hour. Also assisting on scene were Mohegan EMS 69B1, Yorktown 34Medic1, Yorktown PD, Yorktown FD Rescue 16 with manpower, Peekskill FD Rescue 134/FASTeam, Buchanan FD Utility 12/Cascade, Battalion 17, and Westchester County Cause and Origin Team Zone 4. All units cleared the scene at approx. 4:45pm. Photos are courtesy of Yorktown Patch and The Daily Yorktown.
