| On Wed. morning 12/28/11 at 3:23am, Mohegan Fire was dispatched to Lake Rd in the southern portion of the district in Cortlandt for a reported greenhouse on fire attached to the structure. Within a few minutes, Car 2266 (Lt. Gravius), who was still enroute, advised of heavy fire showing from a distance and transmitted the 1st alarm. With this, Peekskill FD Rescue 134/FAS-Team, Buchanan FD Utility 12/Cascade, Westchester County Dept. of Emergency Services Battalion 17, and Mohegan EMS 69B1 were added to the response. Car 2266 arrived first with heavy fire showing from the greenhouse with fire extension already into the attic of the residence. Car 2266 also advised incoming units that the hydrant was directly in front of the residence and directed first due Engine 258 up the driveway to the front of the residence and to also grab the hydrant with a 5" supply hose for ample water. Car 2266 then advised Engine 252 to standby at the hydrant, Ladder 35 to stage out on Lake Rd, and requested Con Edison Electric for the house service electric line arching due to the fire. Under the command of Car 2262 (Asst. Chief Cerrato), members quickly stretched the first hoseline and began an aggressive interior attack. Though the greenhouse section on fire was knocked down quickly, members had to access the attic section, which was becoming heavily involved in fire. Once Firefighters made access to the attic and positioned a second hoseline, the attic was knocked down within 30 minutes of arrival, but extensive overhaul would be needed to fully extinguish the pockets of fire in the attic, overhaul the residence, and remove burnt items from the attic. In total, 3 hoselines were stretched, with only 2 operating. Members remained on scene until approx. 8am when all units went back into service. Also assisting on scene were Westchester County D.E.S Cause and Origin Team Zone 4, New York State Police, Cortlandt Code Enforcement, Cortlandt Water Dept., and Con Edison Electric. Just after Mohegan units cleared this fire, members responded to a rollover motor vehicle accident on the Bear Mtn. Pkwy. where a vehicle was found on its side leaning against a tree down an embankment.
